Equal to the Earth

Are you a survivor who, on touching land, shine

your torch into the sea or are you a rock warning?

Like a light seen across wide waters, your cig glows

in the dark before your face appears out of the fog …

This is just a snippet from the beginning of “Blowjob”, a powerful poem in Jee Leong Koh’s new collection, Equal to the Earth.  Jee Leong Koh is a poet originally from Singapore who now resides in NYC.  If you want to hear more of him he is reading at the American Theater of Actors on Sunday, Nov. 15th.  In addition, much more Jee Leong Koh can be found on his blog, Song of a Reformed Headhunter. I recently reviewed Koh’s book for the online literary journal asiancha, and I will post that when it is linked.
