KGB success and JJ Koczan ensnared under volcanic ash

I just wanted to write a quick post to the effect that I was blown away by last night’s reading at KGB bar–what Jaime Karnes aptly termed “a night of memoir.”  Nick Ripatrazone, Sara Grossman, Dickson Lam and Christa Parravani read, with the last two pieces representing our small but growing group of non-fiction writers.  The pieces were touching, and the place was as packed as I’ve ever seen it, a really great way to end the year.

In other words, I just discovered that our own fellow fiction writer, JJ Koczan is now trapped in the Netherlands under a cloud of volcanic ash.  His posts on the subject are hilarious, and can be found at  He also has included some pictures, which makes his blog twice as interesting this one.  Go, and be merry!
